The Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) Regiment HQ on Saturday (15) at Panagoda bade farewell to one of their illustrious Officers, Major General Aruna Ariyasingha on the verge of his retirement after serving the Army for more than 34 years.
After he was welcomed by the SLA Centre Commandant and a ceremonial Guard Turnout greeted him, he proceeded to the SLA War Heroes’ Monument and paid tribute to their memory after placing a floral wreath.
Next, a Guard of Honour, held in keeping with military traditions invited him to review the parade and receive the salute. The first segment of the day’s proceedings culminated with an all rank tea arrangement, followed by lunch.
The day’s event reached its apex with offer of a farewell dinner organized in honour of the outgoing senior officer and his family members.
