The Weight Lifters’ Selection Competition for National Weight-Lifting Team kicked off at Weight Lifting gymnasium in Polonnaruwa during 20-21 December where Army weight-lifters bagged 2 Gold medals and 3 Silver medals beating competitors of the Navy, Air Force, Jaffna, Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Kurunegala, Galle and Galgamuwa sport clubs in the men’s and women’s categories.
The medal winners are as follows;
Gold Medal for 109 Kg secured by Sergeant A.G.S Abeywikrama
Gold Medal for 71 Kg secured by Private H.H.K Udeshika
Silver Medal for 81 Kg secured by Bombardier H.R.J Wijayantha
Silver Medal for 96 Kg Secured by Private K.T Wimantha
Silver Medal for 71 Kg Secured by Private H.A.H Hapuarachchi
