Army Troops Volunteer to Erect New Home for Konavil Family

Mrs. Nagulesapullai Kuganeshwari of Konavil west, Kilinochchi, thanks to the financial support and manpower assistance of the Army was the most recent beneficiary of the Army-pioneering House Construction Project for Needy civilians in the region as per guidelines given by the Army Chief to all SFHQs.

7 Sri Lanka Light Regiment troops under the close supervision of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Milroy Dias, 7 SLSR built this house using own resources and funds, and was warmed by Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces-Kilinochchi as the Chief Guest for the house-warming occasion on Monday (12).

The project, meant to promote gestures of reconciliation, goodwill and harmony received commendation from state officials in the area. On the date of the inauguration, the troops managed to provide required household furniture, appliances, dry ration packs, fresh vegetables and stationery packs for children’s use to the family.

Divisional Secretary Karachchi, Grama Niladari for Konavil Division, General Officer Commanding of the 57 Division Major General Priyantha Jayawardana, Commander 571 Brigade, Brigadier Dammika Welagedara, Commander 573 Brigade, Brigadier Manoj Madurapperuma and several others participated in the simple warming ceremony, conducted, adhering to all COVID-19 preventive measures.
