Army Troops at Southern Expressway Interchanges: Commander Speaks to Them

On his way back after talking to the troops serving the Security Force HQ-West at Panagoda on Wednesday (22), Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army took time off to have a look at the troops, deployed to main Entry/ Exit points along the E-1 Southern Expressway after visiting the entrance at Kottawa.

A contingent of 31 Officers and 233 Other Ranks serving under the Security Force Headquarters - West and Central have been deployed along this Expressway at the request of the government after the Road Development Authority (RDA) personnel went on a token strike on Wednesday (22 November).

Troops while providing security to the locations manned those ticketing counters with issue of tickets for motorists entering and exiting through those 22 Expressway Entrance/ Exit points along the E-1 Southern Expressway from Kottawa to Magampura.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army spoke to the troops at Kottawa Highway entrance and exchanged views with them on their new emergency services.

The Army Chief was accompanied by Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - West and several Senior Officers.
