Army Troops Participate in Indonesia's Multinational Exercise, One of the Biggest

A total of five officers and fourteen Non Commissioned Officers (NCOs) of the Army at the invitation of Indonesian Armed Forces took part in the 'Garuda Canti Dharma 11 'Multinational Exercise, hosted by the Indonesian Armed Forces Peacekeeping Training Center, Bogor, Indonesia during 18-31 July 2022 which is regarded as one of the largest Peace Support Operations Training Exercises in the world.

This Multinational Exercise, co-sponsored by Indonesian National Armed Forces and the US Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) was attended by a number of military personnel from five continents, representing twenty-two countries. This mega exercise consisted of Staff Training Event (STE), Field Training Event (FTE) and the UN Gender and Protection Planning course.

With the blessings of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Colonel Ruwan Ehelepola served the Exercise as the sole International Military Instructor (IMI) whilst 2 officers and 14 other Ranks attended the FTE and each officer attended the STE and the UN Gender and Protection Planning course during the mega exercise.

The professionalism, commitment and conduct of the Sri Lankan contingent were commended by the organizers and the participants were given a golden opportunity to enhance their knowledge and expertise on interoperability and mission effectiveness in common tactics, techniques, and procedures in accordance with UN doctrine with the objective of improving UN Peacekeeping Troop performances and other regional peace operations.
