A contingent of 20 Army personnel, including 2 Officers of the 15 Sri Lanka Artillery of the 142 Infantry Brigade under the Security Force HQ - West plus a water bowser of the Security Force HQ - West along with the Kotte Fire Brigade this morning (30) rushed to extinguish a sudden fire, erupted at a private furniture shop in Meegoda.
In response to the emergency need, troops on the directions of the Commander, Security Forces - West, quickly rushed to the location and joined to fight against the fast spreading fire.
A quick response from Army personnel along with the Kotte Fire Brigade within a few hours brought the fire under control. This timely intervention prevented the escalation of the fast spreading fire before it could have caused a bigger damage.
The General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division, the Commander, 142 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of the 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery closely monitored the Army’s assistance.
