AFTER the Army troops liberated areas in the east which remained under domination of LTTE terrorists nearly for three decades, civilians in those areas have now found their freedom to engage in their social and religious work as they wished.
At the end of the annual Vas season of the Buddhist monks, devotees at Aselapura Temple organized a two-day long religious ceremony at the temple on 23rd and 24th October. The ceremonies were held with assistance of a few philanthropists and Army troops in the area.
Commander Security Forces Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) Major General Srinath Rajapakse, along with some senior officers, attended the religious ceremony including an alms-giving to Maha Sangha at the Aselapura temple on 24th October.
The same day, with the coordination of the SFHQ-(E), the 233 Brigade organized an eye clinic for the students at Vakarai school on 24th October.
A medical team headed by Dr. Nalin Goonawardane at Sri Jayawardenapura hospital voluntarily came forward to assist the Army in this commendable programme.
