Army troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ- C) , took immediate steps to bring a fast spreading two bushfires under control in the general areas of Naula grid station of the Ceylon Electricity Board and near the war monument area in Mailapitiya on Saturday (13).
Troops working at Mailapitiya war monument controlled the bush fire in the jungle near the war monument in Mailapitiya on Saturday (13). A total of 11 Army personnel including one officer and 10 other ranks attended the fire controlling.
In the meantime, troops of 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps controlled a bush fire in the jungle area of 1 Km away from the Naula Grid station. Army soldiers together with members of Dambulla Fire Controlling Unit controlled the fire by evening on the same day (13).
