19 Sri Lanka National Guard troops of the 112 Infantry Brigade of the 11 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - Central (SFHQ-Central) were among the firsts to arrive to assist the victims of the bus that went down a precipice in Taplo area, Norton Bridge on Sunday (19) while it was returning on a pilgrimage to ‘Sri Pada’ summit.
Troops immediately reached the location and assisted to evacuate the victims for admission to the Ginigathhena hospital in the area. Around the same time, troops provided first aid to some of the injured before they were evacuated with the support of all others who thronged there for assistance.
Major General Mohan Ratnayake, Commander, SF-Central and respective Commanders closely monitored and coordinated the emergency.
