Army Technical Expertise Undertakes Housing Project for Easter Sunday Victim

The Army-built ‘dream house’ for an Easter Sunday victim with patronage, extended by Capital Maharaja Organization was vested in the victim’s family during a ceremony, held on Tuesday (28) at Kandasurindugama, Akkara 50, Negombo.

His Eminence, Archbishop of Colombo Rt Rev Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith as the Chief Guest graced the occasion. During the Easter terrorist attack on Katuwapitiya Church on 21 April 2019, Janisha Vidushan, the homeless teenager had been dreaming for erection of a new house for the family to move in before he unexpectedly lost his life in the attack on Katuwapitiya church.

Capital Maharaja Organization with ‘Sirasa’ Media came forward to build that ‘Dream House’ for the family as a monumental tribute to the dead young one and turned to the Army for construction assistance.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army considering the humanitarian aspect of the project readily instructed Corps of Engineer Services (CES) and 2 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Service Corps troops to undertake the project for construction of the house.

Accordingly, those troops within a remarkably short span of time of less than 40 days erected the new house on behalf of the victim’s memory and made it ready for warming as per instructions of the Commander of the Army.

141 Brigade Commander representing Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, together with representatives of the sponsors attended the warming ceremony of the house where keys were delivered to the parents of the victim.

Army troops began the construction work on 18 December 2019 and completed the project on 27 January 2020 before it was vested in them on Tuesday (28).

Representative officials, Army Officers, relatives of the victim, invitees and civilians in the area took part in the warming ceremony. Adidas shoes | Air Jordan 1 Mid - Collection - Sb-roscoff
