Sri Lanka Army’s (Yellow Team) in the Hockey team carried away the overall championship in the hockey tournament, conducted by Matale St Thomas College at Matale Hockey ground on Saturday (24).
The tournament was competed by 16 teams, including two Army Hockey teams, two Indian Hockey teams, Sri Lanka Air Force and Police Hockey teams for the ‘A.J Wijesinghe Memorial Challenge Cup’.
After a couple encounters, Sri Lanka Army’s (Yellow Team) and the Army’s (Blue Team) vied in the finals. Sri Lanka Army’s (Yellow Team) emerged champions and carried away the trophy pushing its rival (Blue Team) to the runner up slot.
