Army Taekwondo Players Sweep Korean Ambassador Cup Tournament

Sri Lanka Army Taekwondo players swept all major male and female categories in the Korean Ambassador Cup Taekwondo Tournament, held on Saturday (8 July) at the BMICH and won championships in the most number of events.

Army players under 54 - 68 kg (male), females under 46 - 58 kg and 61 - 75 kg and in Aerobics Competition clinched the championship while the runners-up slot in the male (B Team) 54 - 68 kg was also secured by Army Taekwondo players.

The milestone gains in the tournament as well as the performances of both male and female players of the Army drew appreciation from Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Chairman of the Army Taekwondo Committee and Director General General Staff (DGGS) of the Army during the awarding ceremony.

31 male and female Army Taekwondo players displayed excellent skills and had tough encounters with their rivals before they emerged champions.

Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Chairman of the Army Taekwondo Committee and Director General General Staff (DGGS), Brigadier P.A.M Peiris RSP USP psc, Director, Directorate of Sports, Brigadier K.M.V Kodituwakku, Commander, 144 Infantry Brigade and the Vice Chairman of the Army Taekwondo Committee, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks watched the finals and attended the awarding ceremony.
