Army Swimmers Shine Carrying Overall Championship (Mens)

The 8th annual national 5km open water swimming championship-2018 organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sport Union got underway in the seas near Galle Face on Saturday (20).

Representing the Army sports club 21 male and 4 female Army swimmers participated in the tournament.

Army Men's team won the overall team championship while female swimmers of the Army ranked in the 5th position.

Recruit M.I Induruwa of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment won the 1st place in the Men's category.

19 Army Sports stars were included in the first segment of 24 swimmers.

Following achievers were among in top positions;

Lance Corporal W. Vimal kumara - SLASC - 3rd Place

Lance Corporal A.M.A.S Abeysinghe - SLAC - 4th Place

Corporal D.M Gunasena - SLSR - 6th Place

Private R.M.N Ranathunga -GR - 9th Place

Lance Corporal T.H.S.K.I De Silva - SLSR - 10th Place
