Army swimmers participating in the 2 km Open Swimming Meet at Balapitiya sea beach on Saturday (15) secured the overall men’s Championship (open) after competing against more than 400 Army, Navy, Police and 25 teams from island-wide sports clubs and school teams during the two-day long tournament.
Organized by the Sri Lanka Coast Guards, Army swimmers scored 154 points against the rival team which scored 61 points. Navy and Police swimmers collected 39 and 37 points respectively.
With the blessings of the Chairman, Army Aquatic Sports Committee, Major General Prasanna Chandrasekara nominated 52 male swimmers and 6 female swimmers for participation in the tournament.
Private B.D Shehan of Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers received the gold medal for the first place (individual) in the tournament. latest Nike release | New Releases Nike
