3rd edition of the National 10 km Open Water Swimming Championship - 2020 got underway on Sunday morning (26) at Galle Face beach front.
20 male and 5 female swimmers participated in the Championship by representing the Army swimming team.
During this year’s championship, 7 Army male swimmers and 4 female were able to enter among the first 10 in order of their merits. Both Male and Female teams were declared as the Overall Team Champions.
In the Men’s category, following swimmers, grabbed the medals as follows;
Silver Medal - Lance Corporal W Vimal Kumara of 3 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC).
Bronze Medal - Private W.M.B.L Abeyrathne - 2 (V) Sri Lanka Electrical Mechanical Engineers (SLEME).
