ARMY swimmers in both male and female categories showed their talents recently in the open 2 mile swimming tournament, organized by Ambalangoda Dharmashoka College.
The competition saw Trophy for Male Category and Trophy for Defence Services clinched by Army swimmers. Similarly, Corporal S.K.I Silva of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) won the Trophy for the best swimmer under disable category. Several hundreds of swimmers across the island took part in this annual swimming event.
Army winners in the female/male categories are as follows;
1. Private R.W.D De Soysa of 4 Sri Lanka Women’s Corps (Volunteer) (5th place)
2. Lance Corporal Y.M.R.P Dissanayaka of 2 Sri Lanka Women’s Corps (Volunteer) (12th place)
3. Private T.K.S Weerakkody of 3 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (2nd place)
4. Lieutenant L.R.K. Peiris of 5 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (Volunteer) (5th place)
5. Private T.H.K.S.I De Silva of 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (6th place)
6. Private W.V. Kumara of 3 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (7th place)
7. Private R.P.P Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka Ordnance Corps (12th place)
