Army Shooters Vying in All Categories in National Shotgun Championship - 2019 Emerge Champions

Brigadier Senarath Niwunhella, Chairman, Army Small Arms Association (ASAA) with a superior accuracy of shooting reigned supremacy as the overall Champion under the senior category in the International Practical Shooting Confederation's - (IPSC) National Shotgun Championship 2019 tournament, conducted by the National Rifle Association of Sri Lanka (NRASL) at the Army Pistol Shooting Range in Panaluwa during 26 -28 July. Brig Kithsiri Ekanayake was placed second (overall) and Brigadier Subhashana Welikala secured third slot respectively in the senior category.

120 shooters representing country-wide Sports Shooting Clubs, affiliated to the NRASL included Tri-Service and Police shooters in addition to civil club shooters under General, Senior and Super Senior Categories in the competition.

National Shotgun Championship - 2019 was conducted in accordance with rules and regulations, stipulated by the IPSC, the world's controlling body of this unique sport with the patronage, extended by the Ministry of Sports and the IPSC in Sri Lanka.

Men's and Women's teams of the Army emerged victorious, bagging the Shotgun Open Division Championship and Army shooters (Men) dominated clinching the 1st place in the Team Event in a convincing manner. Warrant Officer II W.P. N Dammika was placed overall Champion in the general category and the Warrant Officer II M.M.N Koswaththa was placed as the overall second under the same category. Furthermore, Lieutenant Thushara Gunathilake won the Shoot-Off Championship in the Open Division, beating his rivals.

Meanwhile, Army woman shooters also dominated the women's open event pushing them to secure the 1st place. Lieutenant Shalika Liyanarachchi was placed the overall champion while Private K. Kaushalya clinched the overall second and Lieutenant Anupama Rathnayeke placed third respectively. Moreover SL Army women's team won the 2nd place in the overall Open Division team slot defeating all other men's teams.

The NRASL expects to hold the awarding ceremony - 2019 towards the end of this year, it was announced.

In the year 2018, shooters of the Sri Lanka Army Small Arms Association competing in the IPSC National Shooting Championship Tournament at Welisara Navy firing range secured three first places in the Open Division (men's) B group, Open Division (women’s), the first place in the Open Division (single), Production Division (men’s) team first place and Production Division (single) first place. short url link | 『アディダス』に分類された記事一覧
