Army Seva Vanitha Unit Gifts Consignment of Essentials to the New COVID-19 Hospital

Intending to be a tower of strength behind the national task, engaged in the control of fast spreading COVID-19 virus, members of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), headed by Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, ASVU Sunday (9) morning arrived at the Army-improvised COVID-19 Hospital in Seeduwa to donate a large consignment of pharmaceuticals, washing machines, TV sets, refrigerators, linen and other essential items for use of patients, to be admitted to this treatment centre in future.

The state-of-the art improvised Intermediate Care Centre cum Hospital with 1200 beds, equipped with all vital health facilities is almost ready for opening with the express objective of giving the best emergency healthcare to affected Sri Lankans free of charge. The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) joined hands with all engaged in the project since the beginning of it after Brandix Group offered this facility to the Army for improvisation free of charge.

Accordingly, the ASVU team of donors with Mrs. Sujeewa Nelson visited the location and gave away the stocks to Commanding Officer of the new hospital.

Major General Sujeewa Senerath Yapa, General Officer Commanding, 14 Division, together with Brigadier Lal Wijethunga, Commander, 141 Brigade, Colonel (Coordinating), Colonel Thushara Balasuriya of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, and Officers were also present to welcome the ASVU team and receive the donation.
