Army Seva Vanitha on Int' Women's Day Launches Multiple Projects

To be in parallel with the International Women’s Day, the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) at the Army HQ in collaboration with the 'MR Media Solution Pvt Ltd' staged a special Women's Day programme at Panagoda Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) Headquarters auditorium on Wednesday (08 March).

Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, Chairperson, ASVU graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mrs. Danusha Weerasuriya, ASVU Vice President welcomed the ASVU Chairperson on her arrival at the SLSC auditorium.

After lighting of the traditional oil lamp, the day’s proceedings commenced. As the first segment of the event, Mrs. Candani Bandara, an expert in beauty culture delivered a comprehensive lecture on the science of beauty culture.

Next, representative officials of Singer Sri Lanka PLC jointly held a speech on the economical aspects as regards the use of electrical items and appliances. Brief lectures covering Health Management, Financial Management, Positive thinking and Personality Development followed afterwards as part of the day's agenda.

The ASVU afterwards presented a scholarship to a woman soldier who has been picked to follow a Course on Tailoring. Her selection was made through a lottery draw.

In another move, 306 C-1 Lions Club Women's Forum donated 5 Juke Machines to the ASVU for distribution among the most wanted and the machines were symbolically accepted by Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, ASVU President at the same occasion.

The audience was afterwards entertained to a musical fiesta, staged by 'Jeewithaya Aran' Music Band.

Towards the end of the day's commemoration, all the participants were offered a special gift parcel after Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, Chairperson, ASVU, presented special mementos to the invited lecturers and representative officials of the 306 C-1 Lions Club Women's Forum and MR Media Solution Pvt Ltd.

The delivery of the vote of thanks by the ASVU Executive Secretary brought the day's project to culmination.

Soon after the main ceremony was over, Mrs Janaki Liyanage, ASVU Chairperson vested the new accommodation facility, erected for women soldiers, serving at the Panagoda Army Beauty Saloon.

ASVU's Brigadier Coordinator, Mrs. Samanthi Senarath Yapa, Mrs Manori Sallay, Senior Members of the ASVU, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the event.
