Army Runners Do Well in 4th DSG Road Run at Hikkaduwa

Road Race of the ongoing Defence Services Games - 2018 was flagged off at Hikkaduwa on Sunday (4) with nearly 100 participants, representing tri-service men and women and ended in the same venue after running thru Baddegama covering approximately a distance of about 21 km.

Organized by the Sri Lanka Army Athletic Committee, the event, inclusive of female marathon runners of the tri-services started at the Hikkaduwa public ground and ran via Baddegama before they returned to the same location.

Army male runners secured the first, second and third places to qualify for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively while Army woman runners secured the third place.

A large gathering of military personnel, including woman soldiers representing tri-services, together with the Chairman Sri Lanka Army Athletic Committee, Major General Sudath Perera as the Chief Guest took part in the Defence Services Road Race - 2018.

The Defence Services Road Race - 2018, held on par with international standards was observed by a panel of judges of national and international recognition, following arrangements, made by the Army Athletic Committee.

The competition was organized by the Army Athletic Committee on the directions given by the Commander of the Army and the President Defence Services Games Committee.

Major General Sudath Perera, Chairman, Army Athletic Committee and General Officer Commanding (GOC), 58 Division graced the sports event as the Chief Guest, together with Major General Anura Sudasinghe, Director General Army Sports and awarded certificates and trophies to the winners.
