Army ruggerites beat rivals once again

The Army Rugby team, in its Caltex \'A\' Division match played at Galle Face on Saturday (21) powered their way through to beat its rivals (CR & FC) by 20 points to 10 and emerged victorious once again.

The Army\'s 20 points (2 goals and 2 penalties) against its rivalries\' (CR & FC) 10 points (1 goal and 1 penalty) thus contributed largely to maintain its secured second place in the list.

Ably supported by Army\'s new blood, Kenya-born Edwin Shimaga and ruggerites like Kapila Knowton and wingers, Fernando brothers, it was Army\'s T.A. Silva who took the soldiers into a triumphant lead with two spot kicks. At half time Army led 6-3 and quick moves made the whole match exciting.

In the final second half Asanga Rodrigo fumbled as Perakum Fernando touched down and T. A. Silva converted. This gave Army a well-earned victory by 20 points and it was again T. A. Silva who contributed half of their team\'s score.

CR& FC team opened scoring first firing across a penalty but replaced and brought in Zulki Hameed only late in the second half when their hopes for supremacy were falling apart.
