Sri Lanka Army Rowers in a stunning gesture claimed the overall Championship in both Men's and Women's categories with a tally of seven Gold Medals in total in each category in the 37th Senior National Rowing Championship -2022, held at Diyawannawa Rowing Centre on Saturday (5 November).
The three-day event, organized by the Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka was competed by 12 top teams of tri services, clubs, universities and schools, but the final race of the day brought about excitement as both Army and Navy teams battled out with each other until the end.
The competition included 10 events and Army Men and Women rowers won 7 Gold Medals out of all 10 events.
Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Chairman, Army Rowing Committee offered much-needed guidance and inspiration to all rowers. Major General Udaya Herath, Vice Chairman of the Army Rowing Committee was present there to see the final encounters.
