Sri Lanka Army troops serving the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni, promptly made relief arrangements on account of the prevailing severe drought conditions in Sampathnuwara, Tissapura, Kahatagollewa, Veheratenna, Monerawewa and suburbs after an urgent meeting was summoned Wednesday (9) at the 62 Division Headquarters in Vavuniya.
Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) chaired the meeting attended by civil sector Divisional Secretaries, state officials and Army officers.
After the meeting Major General Perera, together with other officials took an on the spot evaluation of the hardships in those villages and made alternative relief measures by way of supply of free lunch packets and supply of water to drought-affected civilians in those areas for a period of a month at least.
