The final round of the under 17 seven-side school football tournament - 2013, organized by Ananda College Colombo among all-island schools got underway during 29-30 June at CR & FC playground in Colombo.
A team from Valluwarampuram Bharathi College, was made to take part in the tournament following initiatives taken by 683 Brigade on the directions of Major General L.B.R Mark, Security Force Commander-Mullaittivu who ensured the team receive nutritious food and one-month long training before they were sent to the tournament.
The tournament, organized with the aim of promoting friendship among Northern and Southern School children saw tough competitions between Valluwarampuram Barathi College team and Galle Mahinda College team.
However, both college teams could not score any goals within first twenty minutes due to their tough kicking and fielding which prompted the organizers to go for a toss to select the best team.
Army troops facilitated the team to arrive in Colombo providing them with transport, meals and overnight stay during the tournament.
