National Power Lifting 2018 tournament that got underway at Bandaragama Maithri hall on Saturday (3) with seven pioneer teams gave the overall championship to the Army Power Lifters.
Army Power Lifters grabbed 4 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals and a Bronze medal and claimed championship. During this significant championship, 4 new Sri Lankan records were created by two players.
Corporal S. K. S Pradeep won Gold in 59 kg weight class. Sri Lankan records were made in Scot, Bench, Dead Lift and Total.
Lance Corporal I. L Chathura Kumara (74 kg weight class) won the Gold medal making a country record for Dead Lifting. Private Y. P. S Abeywickrama (66 kg weight class) and Private K. K. I Wijeweera (83 kg weight class) won two more Gold medals.
Kohuwala, High Octane Sports Club was the runner-up in this tournament.
