NORTH & EAST: ON BEING INFORMED by civilians, troops on duty in the general area west of PUTHUR, JAFFNA recovered two claymore mines of 3 kg each, one suicide jacket, one T-56 weapon with magazine, thirty-six rounds of T-56 ammunition, one antenna, two detonators, one JAFFNA map, one pack and ten code sheets Friday (5) between 2.00 p.m.- 5.00 p.m.
Similarly, Police personnel, attached to the KANTHALE Police station, acting on information, conducted a search in PERARU area, TRINCOMALEE and recovered one claymore mine, two detonators, two batteries and 4 ft of wire Thursday (4) around 3.00 p.m.
Meanwhile, troops in BATTICALOA found three claymore mines, ten 60 mm mortar bombs and one pressure mine from SIRUTHENKAL area Friday (5) around 10.15 a.m..
During another search conducted at KUDURUVITANKULAM in VAVUNIYA, troops recovered one T-56 weapon and one communication set Thursday (4) around 12.30 p.m.
