The 16th National Tug of War Championship-2021 organized by the National Tug of War Association was held at the Torrington ground, Colombo where 37 leading Sports Clubs under men/women categories vied for supremacy.
In addition, 7 teams of the Sri Lanka Army also competed in the Championship and succeeded in winning this year's overall championship with following gains:

560 kg (women) - Championship
640 kg (Men) - Championship

Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander 1 Corps and Chairman of Army Athletic Committee, together with Brigadier Upul Kodithuwakku, Brigadier Priyantha Nawarathna, Colonel Dhammika Thilakarathna and all other officers contributed to the success of this championship by encouraging the players.
