Army Players Secure Championship at 8th Canoeing and Kayaking Sprint National Championships - 2024

The 8th Canoeing and Kayaking Sprint National Championships 2024, organized by the National Association for Canoeing and Kayaking in Sri Lanka, took place at the Yacht Club in Mandaitivu, Jaffna, from 14 to 16 September 2024. The event saw participation from multiple clubs and teams, including the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Air Force, Seal Club, Universal Club, CINEC Club, and St. Bridget Club.

Competing across nine categories, the Sri Lanka Army emerged as the overall champions consecutively for the sixth time, securing a remarkable total of medals:

Gold Medals: 8

Silver Medals: 5

Bronze Medals: 6

The final ceremony, held on 16 September 2024, was presided over by Mr. Ledchunmanan Ilangovan, Chief Secretary to the Northern Province, and the Guests of Honour included the Commander of Security Forces Jaffna, the Commander of Security Forces Wanni, the Commander of the Northern Naval Command, and the Chairman of the Army Canoeing and Kayaking Sprint Team, all of whom were present to celebrate the significant achievements of the Army athletes, who commended the athletes for their impressive performances.
