Army Muaythai Demonstrators Go to Saliyawewa

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army in response to a request made by the Director General Sports at the Department of Sports Development, Mr Dhammika Muthugala has facilitated a team of Muaythai Martial Art members of the Army to hold a workshop plus a demonstration of this self-defensive art at Saliyawewa Model School at Saliyawewa.

The inaugural training session on Thursday (19) kicked off in the presence of Mr Dhammika Muthugala, himself a past pupil of this school and Lieutenant Colonel P.P.C Perera, Commanding Officer, 4 Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Principal, teachers and students.

The project was meant to popularize this martial art among the student community and encourage the young ones to learn this defensive technique, enabling them to successfully encounter any challenges both physically and mentally.
