Colonel Chaminda Perera, the first national Muay Thai trainer of the country and initiator of the combat sport to the Sri Lanka Army who is also the Vice Chairman of the Army Muay Thai Committee had the rare chance of attending the ‘Somdet Pra Sanphet VIII’ (Tiger King) ceremony in Thailand’s Luktupfah Muaythai and Muayboran school during 1-6 February 2023.
Organized by the Ministry of Culture Affairs in Thailand, the ceremony saw the architect of the Muay Thai combat sport, Tiger King was commemorated in a special event where Thailand’s Minister of Cultural Affairs was present.
The Army participant joined an exhibition show with other participants on account of the ceremony. The Minister of Cultural Affairs in Thailand personally appreciated the Sri Lankan participant’s contribution to the success of the event.
