Army Male Swimmers Carry away 9th Annual 5 km Open Water Swimming Championship

The 9th annual 5 km open water National Swimming Championship-2019, organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union gave the overall Team Championship to Army Swimmers (male) during the swimming meet at Galle Face seas on Saturday (5).

19 Army swimmers won runners-up slots in sequence among the first 25 swimmers, although it was competed by hundreds of tri-service and civil swimmers. A total of 28 male swimmers and 6 females of the Army participated in the mammoth event.

Similarly, Army Women’s team won the 3rd place in the overall team championship.

The event was made a reality under the close supervision of Major General H. G. I Vidyananda, Chairman, Army Aquatic Sports Committee who is also the Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps.

Colonel A. C. A De Zoysa Deputy Chairman, Army Aquatic Sports Committee and Captain Roshan Peiris, Secretary, Army Aquatic Sports Committee who is also the Head Coach (present Open Water National Coach) encouraged the Army swimmers by being present at the location.
