Army Logistic Command Distributes ‘Mee’ Saplings to Mark its Anniversary

The Army Logistic Command HQ at Salawa, Kosgama marked its 42nd anniversary by planting and distributing ‘Mee’ saplings during a ceremony on Wednesday (29).

The project, initiated by Major General Indu Samarakoon, Logistic Commander gave away 200 saplings among civilians and planted 100 saplings in the Salawa hospital compound with the participation of the Chief Medical Officer, nurses and medical staff.

The project was supported by the Agrarian Officer and the Grama Seva official at Pahala Kosgama West and civilians in the area who also joined the event near the mangroves in front of the Kosgama, Salawa hospital.

Major General Indu Samarakoon, Logistic Commander, Senior Officers and Other Ranks were present during the arrangement.

Meanwhile, the Logistic Command Headquartered in Kosgama on its 42nd anniversary day on Saturday (1) saluted its Commander, Major General Indu Samarakoon when he arrived at the HQ.

Troops presented a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour to the Logistic Commander at the premises. Afterwards he was invited to plant a sapling in the premises and added symbolic memory to the occasion. He also added a few words before joining an All Rank tea as one more feature of the day's programme.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the programme.
