Army Inter Regiment Motor Riding Event Thrills Racing Enthusiasts

The 4th edition of the Inter Regiment Motor-cross Riding 2020 Championship, organized by the Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Committee got off the grounds on Saturday (29) at Sevanagala auto-drome track, giving a thrilling experience to the spectators.

The mammoth riding event, competed by 11 regimental riders with impressive records saw its realization for the 4th time following the support, extended by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army since the event has been a new entity among Army calendar of motor sports.

Competed by over a hundred of renowned Army riding enthusiasts was witnessed by a large gathering of spectators on Saturday (29) at Udawalawa in the presence of Major General Jagath Gunawardena, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force as the Chief Guest.

All riders competed in 6 motorcycle events for the trophy and the event got underway with the coordination of the Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Committee (SLAMSC). Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA), Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE), Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), Gajaba Regiment (GR), Corps of Engineer Service (CES), Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC), Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) and Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) riders showed their skills and competed in the event.

Major General Jagath Gunawardena, Commandant, SLAVF, Major General I.O.W Madola, Chairman, SLAMSC and several Senior Officers were present at the event.

During this year’s Championship, Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers riders emerged as the Best Regiment and the Best Riders’ title was grabbed by Corporal H.M.J.S Premarathna of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment & Craftsman K.A.D.R Jayashan of SLEME. Sport media | AIR MAX PLUS
