The certificate and trophies awarding ceremony for the Army Inter-Regiment Combat Firing Tournament 2024 was held on 30 August 2024 at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Sino-Lanka Friendship' Auditorium. Major General S.R.B Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
Organised in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Army Small Arms Association and the Marksmen and Sniper Training School, the tournament took place at the Diyatalawa Firing Range from 16 to 25 August 2024. The competition featured 37 teams representing 23 Regiments, competing across open, novice, and regimental categories.
Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
The following Regiments and players excelled in their respective categories:
1. Open Team Championship
Champions: Special Forces
Runners-up: Gajaba Regiment
2. Novice Team Championship
Champions: Special Forces
Runners-up: Commando Regiment
3. Service Regiment Championship
Champions: Sri Lanka Army Corps of Military Police
Runners-up: Sri Lanka Army Service Corps
4. All-Round Best Shooter: Lance Corporal H.A.T. Sandakalum of the 3 Special Forces
5. Best Shooter in Flag Officer Category: Brigadier H.A.A.N.C. Prabhath RSP USP
6. Most Talented Senior Officer: Colonel D.C.S.K. Athukorala RSP
7. Best Female Shooter: Corporal K.D.M.D. Dissanayake, Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps
8. Best Marksman of the Novice Category: Lieutenant P.W.S.N. Jayasingha, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment
