Army Innovator, Cpl Dissanayake Invited to Tokyo JDIE

Sri Lanka Army-produced innovator, Corporal D.M.C Dissanayake of Military Intelligence Corps (MIC) who had been invited to attend the forthcoming Tokyo-based ‘Japan Design & Invention Expo’ (JDIE) mega exhibition after ‘Sri Lanka Inventors Commission’ (SLIC) adjudged his innovative product as one of the bests that suits international standards, will leave for Japan shortly.

In the recent Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna-initiated ‘Jaffna Innoveta - 2017’ exhibition, where a collection of Army personnel-produced new innovative products were placed for public display, Corporal Dissanayake’s innovative product, ‘Automated Security System for Disaster Situations’ drew the attention of the SLIC, which brought the matter to the attention of the ‘Japan’s Institute of Invention and Innovations’ (JIII).

Tokyo’s ‘Japan Design and Invention Expo’ (JDIE), organized by ‘World Invention Intellectual Property Association’ (WIIPA) has invited the inventor, Corporal D.M Chaminda Dissanayake of 2 MIC to participate in the 2017 JDIE with his innovation, together with two more of the SLIC, scheduled during August 4 - 6, 2017 in Tokyo Big Sight, Japan.

In the most recent past ‘Innoveta’ exhibitions got underway at all Security Force Headquarters levels as a project of the Research Analysis Projection and Development Branch of the Army with the blessings of the Commander of the Army with a view to identifying innovative talents among Army personnel and motivating them for new innovations.

Dr Chaminda Edirisinghe, Chairman, SLIC after inviting Corporal Dissanayake to the SLIC premises a few days ago, delivered the letter of invitation to the innovator. Brigadier Ranjith Dharmasiri, Deputy Director General, Research Analysis Projection and Development Branch of the Army was also present at the occasion.
