Army Initiative Gets Water Purifying Units for Oddusuddan Schools

The sustained coordination of the 641 and 642 Brigades of the 64 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) enabled three schools in Oddusuddan area to have three Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Plants installed in their school compounds.

Accordingly, the students at Kulamurippu Government Tamil School, Karipaddamurippu Government Tamil Mixed School and Palampasi Government Tamil Mixed School received those Osmosis plants during simple ceremonies at respective places on Wednesday (10).

The project was completely sponsored by the National PVC Company Ltd in response to the request of those Brigades after the need for such purification was badly felt by school authorities who in turn reached the troops for assistance.

To complete the project, troops serving under both 641 and 642 Brigades offered their assistance for erection of those units. Major General U.P.R Weerakoon, General Officer Commanding, 64 Division, Brigadier Janaka Jayawardene, Commander, 641 Brigade, Colonel G.D.S.M Alwis, Commander, 642 Brigade and Commanding Officers of 14 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, 23 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 17 (V) Gajaba Regiment who were instrumental in making the project a success were associated with simple inaugural ceremonies.

Mr. Ravi Joseph, Marketing Manager of National PVC Company Ltd, Mr. Lalith Dias, Brand Manager of National PVC, Mr. Mohomed Razak and Mr. Bojaya Kasun, Regional Managers (North) and several officials of the donor agency, Principals, teachers and students also took part in the inaugural occasions.
