621 Brigade troops of the 62 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) extended their maximum support and coordinated a distribution programme of water filters and T-shirts among poorest of the poor in Nikawewa (South) area during a brief ceremony at the Ethawetunuwewa community hall in Welioya on Sunday (1).
50 new water filters and a stock of T-shirts, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Colombo Central were distributed among poor civilians on the occasion after a request to this effect was made to the Rotary Club by the 621 Brigade Commander, Colonel A.P Wickramasekara considering the poverty factor in the area.
Mr Gayan Samaraweera, Chairman, Rotary Club Colombo Central, Dr Anura Ratnayake, a native from Welioya area and a scientist in new electronic innovations, members of the Rotary Club, Colonel A.P Wickramasekara, 621 Brigade Commander, Commanding Officer 14 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks of the 621 Brigade and villagers participated in this programme.
