552 Infantry Brigade and 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops of the 55 Infantry Division with sponsorship received from past Old Boys of Colombo Royal College and former graduates of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura distributed pairs of school shoes and coconut saplings among 100 students of Pooneryn Vinayasodei Tamil School and their parents on Monday (2 Oct) during a brief ceremony in the school premises.
The event has been organized to coincide with the International Children’s Day and the forthcoming Sri Lanka Army’s 74th Anniversary.
Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna and the General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division, Major General R.K.N.C Jayawardena RSP ndc, extended their support to the project.
In addition to pairs of shoes, the occasion saw 100 coconut saplings being distributed among parents of those students.
Brigade Commander of the 552 Infantry Brigade, Colonel D.S.S Radalage RWP, Officers and Other Ranks and Mr. Prasad Lokubalasooriya, the representative of sponsors participated in the distribution programme.
