Army HQ Troops Updated & Educated to Keep Abreast of Ground Realities

In a move to keep all Army HQ serving troops abreast of current ground realities, update them on the need to adopt proper approaches to resolve issues and strengthen public relations, the Army HQ this morning (1) invited Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army to address All Ranks and educate them on the importance of above-mentioned concerns.

The Army Commander in his comprehensive address touched on the role and tasks of the Army, its present security engagements, maintenance of relations with the Police and other supportive elements, civil-military co-operation, decision-making, practical approaches and possibilities for resolution thru dialogue, assistance to the general public, affected badly due to the current tension and crisis, maintenance of goodwill and restraint, perception of public pulses and feelings, maintenance of Army dignity and discipline, adoption of diplomacy at all levels, etc.

The Army Chief was welcomed by Major General Channa Weerasooriya, Deputy Chief of Staff at the location before the address commenced.

Senior Officers including the Deputy Chief of Staff, PSOs, Directors, Officers and Other Ranks attend the venue.
