Showing true spirits of generosity, loving-kindness and compassion during this noble 'Vesak' season as preached by the Enlightened One, a group of Army Hq-based Army personnel on conceptual guidelines given by General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army this noon (28) went on distributing a large stock of free meal packets and drinking water bottles among the needy languishing in the heart of Colombo streets, being unable to find their own basic needs due to prevailing COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Officers and Other Ranks serving the AHQ, together with a batch of lady officers and woman soldiers reached those helpless people, comprised of old folks, women, beggars and stranded ones in areas, like Colombo-Fort, Bastian Mw, Main Street, Maradana, Grandpass and Borella areas and offered those relief meal packets.
