Soldiers in Mannar offered meals to a large number of pilgrims who visited the holy shrine to receive blessings of Our Lady of Madhu on 15th August. This was organized under the guidance of the Area Commander for Mannar Brigadier M.A.M Dias on the instructions of the Security Forces Commander Wanni Major General G.D.H.K. Gunaratna.
Under the able leadership of 212 Brigade Commander Colonel M.A.S.K Muhandiram, soldiers organized the entire arrangements with much dedication for thousands of pilgrims to taste the breakfast offered by soldiers.
This noble act of the soldiers received blessings of His Lordship the Bishop of Mannar and was highly appraised by the visitors.
Meanwhile, soldiers of 212 Brigade cleard the scrub and restored a canal of the Sannar Tank in a self-help programme in collaboration with the people of the area on 17th August.
On the same day (17), soldiers organized a blood donation camp at Mannar Area Headquarters where soldiers from 212 and 215 Brigades donated blood.
