On another initiative taken by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, a total of 291 school students, affected in the recent Kosgama-Salawa blast received school uniform packs as relief gifts from the Army on Friday (29) during separate meetings in respective locations.

Likewise, affected students in 38 more schools will shortly receive those uniform sets, sponsored by the Army with the intention of providing as much relief as possible to the victims and their families in the Kosgama blast.

Friday’s (29) ceremony for distribution of those uniform sets to students of all four schools took place at Hanwella Rajasinghe Maha Vidyalaya, headed by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, representing the Commander of the Army and Ms T.S.N.K Dissanayake, Regional Director of Education for Seethawaka, together with a gathering of principals and teachers.

Earlier too, on the directions of the Commander, the Army’s Ranaviru Apparels undertook the task of sewing uniform sets to flood affected students in Kolonnawa and Gothatuwa areas. Operating from a temple, the project was brought to a successful completion just a few days ago.
