Army Gets School Accessories for Batticaloa Students

A stock of school accessories provided by Batticaloa Branch of the Hatton National Bank (HNB) with the support of its Manager, Mr A.A.L Kumara was distributed among 80 selected needy students at Irudducholai Madu Vishnu School and Pawakkodichanai Vinayagar School in Batticaloa area on Tuesday (6) following an initiative of the Army.

Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Commander, Security Forces - East graced the distribution ceremony as the Chief Guest. Troops of 4th Battalion the Gemunu Watch on the instructions of the Commander, 231 Brigade, Brigadier Pradeep Gamage under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, 4 GW, Lieutenant Colonel Lasantha Jayasinghe organized the ceremony for distribution.

After a while, the day’s Chief Guest, East Commander opened the Army renovated the school playground at Pawakkodichanai Vinayagar School and vested it with the students, enabling the students to resume their sports and training practices.
