Army Elle Team Records Victory in Civil Tournament

The 11th 'Mangala Nishantha' Memorial Elle Tournament, organized by Rathnagiriya Victory Sports Club at the Madampe Dummalasuriya Victory playground on Sunday (14 May) was competed by six teams, including the Sri Lanka Army Elle team.

During the tournament the Sri Lanka Army Elle team, Baduragoda Eksath Sports Club Elle team, and Ganemulla Vasana Sports Club team co-won the first round matches. However, the Sri Lanka Army Elle team qualified for the finals through the draw.

Subsequently, Baduragoda Eksath Sports Club and Ganemulla Vasana Sports Club were selected for the semi-final match, and Baduragoda Eksath Sports Club earned 05 runs in 25 balls while Ganemulla Vasana Sports Club scored 06 runs in 11 balls and qualified for the final match against the Sri Lanka Army Elle team.

In the finals, the Army Elle team collected 10 runs from 30 balls, and the Ganemulla Vasana Club team managed to get only 03 runs in 24 balls. Finally, the Sri Lanka Army team won the 11th Mangala Nishantha Memorial Elle tournament after beating the Ganemulla Vasana Club team.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Army Elle team's batting and fielding was particularly impressive, restricting their opponents to single-digit scores in both the first round and the finals.

At the end of the tournament, the following awards were presented to the Sri Lanka Army Elle team:

Best Player in the tournament: Private K.A.R.P.K. Perera

Best Fielder in the tournament: Private K.H. Chathuranga

Best Runner in the tournament: Private W.M.N. Sameera
