Army Discusses Military Strategy for 2020-2025 in Brainstorming Session

The Sri Lanka Army in constant touch with multiple and complex global threat landscape and the imperative need for adaptation to dramatic transformation in recent years is in the process of upgrading its Military Strategy for 2020-2025 with special focus on modernization in the defence spectrum as per guidelines given by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.

Tuesday (5) morning saw an assembly of top level Senior Officers, led by the Army Chief gathered at the Army HQ to discuss 'Formulation of way forward strategy for Sri Lanka Army 2020 to 2025' in a forum where Dr Udaya Indrarathna, a reputed Strategist and Executive Coach for CEOs and Aspiring CEOs' provided an impetus for insights and brainstorming on vital strategic perspectives in the context of today’s world of electronic weaponry, blurred battle lines, and amorphous enemies.

The host of the forum, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva in his opening remarks underlined the importance of devising strategies, associated with core values and assessment of real target objectives in the wake of constantly changing warfare environment and modernizing of Army strategies.

The day's protagonist, Dr Indrarathna after submitting a detailed multi-media presentation opened the floor for extensive discussions, review of past experiences, way forward against non-ending battlefield scenario, electronic warfare, security challenges, etc.

The forum simultaneously paved the occasion for the attendees to forward syndicates, inspire discussions and devise possible solutions to formulate the strategy before a summary of the day's outcome was tabled. Towards the end of the session, Lieutenant General Silva awarded an appreciative memento to Dr Udaya Indrarathna.The vote of thanks was delivered by Brigadier Nalinda Niyangoda Assistant Military Secretary II before the conclusion of the proceedings.

A selective group of Senior officers of the Army Headquarters including Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Chief of Staff and Major General Jagath Gunawardena ,Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force took part in the sessions. Sports News | Nike Shoes
