Army Day Fellowship Dinner Strengthens Bonds Among Comrades

The spirit of camaraderie and fellowship among the ranks of the Sri Lanka Army was celebrated on Thursday (10th) at a special dinner in Panagoda Army Cantonment in honour of the Army Day. Officers and Other Ranks from all 25 regiments gathered for this annual event, which was graced by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, as the Chief Guest.

Introduced in 2009, the fellowship dinner has become a cherished tradition associated with the Army's anniversary celebrations, providing a platform for All Ranks to meet in an informal setting, exchange pleasantries, and reflect on their experiences in the Army. This year's event held special significance as it was part of the activities commemorating the Sri Lanka Army's 75th Anniversary.

The Commander of the Army together with a cross section of Senior and Junior officers, Other Ranks and civilian employees cut a cake to mark the beginning of the event. Thereafter, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage accompanied by Senior Officers, Colonels of the Regiments and Colonel Commandants mingled with the troops throughout the evening, further strengthening the bonds of unity and mutual respect among the Army personnel. While visiting the troops, the Commander of the Army presented the First Day Cover and the 75th Anniversary Stamp for Regimental Sergeant Majors of each regiment. The evening served as a reminder of the enduring values that have guided the Sri Lanka Army throughout its history: loyalty, service, and the shared experiences of life in uniform. By bringing together Officers and Other Ranks from all regiments in this relaxed and friendly atmosphere, the event reinforced the connections that unite them as one force, dedicated to the defence and well-being of the Nation.

Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Principal Staff Officers, Security Forces Commanders, Colonels of the Regiments, Colonel Commandants, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
