The Sri Lanka Army riders showcased exceptional sportsmanship skills by securing the overall championship during the 25th Sri Lanka Air Force Cycle Tour, organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force coinciding with their 73rd anniversary.
The tour of men’s commenced on 03 March 2024 at the Galle Face Green and concluded at the Duraiappah Sports Stadium in Jaffna on 07 March 2024, covering 654km in the whole tour under 05 phases. Women’s tour began at Mankulam on 07 March 2024 and completed on the same day at the Duraiappah Sports Stadium in Jaffna.
According to the guidance and instructions of Major General J.A.R.S.K Jayasekara (Rtd) USP psc, the Chairman of the Army Cycling Committee, 10 male and 05 female Army cyclists participated in the tour and achieved glory for the Army. A large crowd including Senior Tri-Service Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and spectators gathered for the awarding ceremony at Jaffna.
