Army cubs emerge victorious

Sri Lanka Army\'s under 23 team, played against Leo Sports Club at Pannipitiya Dharmapala College grounds during last weekend, after a tense fight, won in the second innings with an outright 107 runs after beating its rival all out for 72 runs.

The Army team won the toss and entered the fray and succeeded in getting a lead of 13 runs during the first innings, though it was not considered a considerable lead. But during the second day's final innings, the Army was able to score 180 runs in 26 overs.

Army\'s medium paces and precise bowling capability contributed largely to its victory amidst cheering of cricket fans, who assembled to this ground to witness this exciting match.

I. Karunatllake, D. Fernando, and B. Tharaka of the Army team and A. Herath, A. Karunatilleke, E. P. N De Silva and Jayawickrema of the Leo Sports Club threw a smart show both during batting and bowling in the encounter.

A large number of enthusiastic cricket fans witnessed the match.
