Army Coordination Provides Medical Needs to Infirm Monks

A stock of medicine, medical accessories and equipment received through the coordination of the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) was donated to infirm Buddhist monks residing at Sri Bodhirukkarama Temple in Polonaruwa, Hathres Ela on Friday (27).

Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces-East visited the temple and handed over the consignment, worth over Rs 1 lakh to the incumbent at the temple.

Australia-based Ms Yashomi Pathirage and Ms Inoka Kariyawasam through the coordination of Ms Sashikala Gunarathne of ‘Dehemi Foundation’ and Ms Nadee Samarasinghe of ‘Manusath Hadawath Foundation’ sponsored the donation after the SFHQ-E projected the requirement.

The stock consisted of wheelchairs, electronic equipment, bed sheets and medicine which were essential to the ailing monks in this temple. Together with the Commander, SFHQ-E, Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, the Chief Coordinator of Civil Affairs, SFHQ-E, Colonel Rajiv Fernando, Civil Affairs Officer of the SFHQ-E, Lieutenant Colonel S.P Halpage, several Officers and Other Ranks were present during the donation.
