The 60th National Judo Championship got underway from 12 to 13 January 2024 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium with the participation of 480 players representing 54 teams.
During the tournament, Army Men’s team secured the Men’s Championship obtaining 06 gold, 08 silver and 06 bronze medals. Similarly, Army Women’s team clinched the Women’s Championship achieving 05 gold, 03 silver and 03 bronze medals. Sri Lanka Air Force became runners-up in both categories.
In addition, Corporal W.L.A.H Imesha was crowned as the Best Woman Player and Army Women’s team was able to secure the first place in the Women’s Open event.
Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni and Chairman of the Army Judo Committee graced the occasion as the chief guest. Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks were also present to witness the thrilling tournament.
